Calling it the Chinese phenomenon would be unfair. Most Chinese manufacturers cannot even create a whisper about their brand but Xiaomi has created a hysteria that has blown even Samsung away. Talk about Samsung releasing their Galaxy Note 4 is much less than the excitement over Xiaomi releasing Redmi 1S today. The phone was sold in 4.2 seconds today at 2pm.
It was not surprising though. It started with Moto G in Febuary when 20,000 units were sold out in 40 minutes. At that time Flipkart got quite some flak but Moto only became faster at selling their phones. Then came Moto E in May when it sold so fast that Flipkart crashed. Then came Xiaomi in August and again Flipkart crashed. This time it was sold out in 4.2 seconds but fortunately Flipkart did not crash.
