After redefining the budget segment in emerging markets like China and India, Xiaomi is at it once more with its latest product launch, the Redmi 2A. The device is a more affordable version of the Redmi 2, which is available for the equivalent of $120 in India.
Xiaomi was able to drive the price even lower by going with a 1.5GHz Leadcore L1860C SoC, which features a quad-core Cortex A7 CPU and Mali T628MP2 GPU. Other specs of the Redmi 2A include 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, 4.7-inch 720p display, 8MP camera, 2MP front shooter and a 2,200mAh battery.
All that is available for just 599 RMB ($96). Xiaomi has announced that it will be slashing the price of the handset to 499 RMB ($80) on April 8 to commemorate its five-year anniversary.
